Tara Fields joins the Atchison Community Health Center as a Clinical Social Worker. Tara Fields is originally from Junction City Kansas where she graduated from high school in 2001 and later attended Northwest Missouri State on a softball scholarship. She finished her undergraduate studies in Psychology at Washburn University. She and her husband CPT Codie Fields have been married for 11 years and met at Army Officer Candidate School. Tara spent 8 years on active duty as a Transportation Corps Officer before transitioning to a Medical Corps Officer and attended the Army Social Work Program at Fort Sam Houston Texas. She later earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Fayetteville State University in 2013 and went on to earn her Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) licensure. Tara Fields transitioned to the Virginia National Guard and currently serves in the Kansas Army Nation Guard as Behavioral Health Officer. She and Codie have 4 beautiful children: Madison, 9, Beau 7, Aubree 4, and Jordyn 2. Tara has much experience in working with victims and offenders of domestic violence and child abuse, anxiety and depression. However, her passion is working with victims of trauma. She is trained in a specialized trauma therapy called EMDR (Eye Movement Desentization and Reprocessing Therapy). In her spare time, Tara enjoys officiating collegiate and youth softball, and youth and high school basketball. She enjoys anything competitive but really enjoys the challenge of meeting clients where they are and working to help her clients achieve an improved sense of self and overall functioning in all aspects of life. We welcome her to Atchison and look forward to the work that she will be doing with the youth and adults in this community.
