FAQs

Is this the free clinic?

While it is true that the Atchison Community Health Clinic was once a traditional free clinic we are no longer considered that. We are the everybody clinic. We offer discounted services to those that qualify and now accept patients with medicaid, medicare, and private insurance.

Do you have an appointments available today?

Call one of our great receptionists to find out what may be available. We understand that illness is unexpected and we do our best to work patients in. It is always easier to get established patients (people who have been here within the last 1-3 years) in more quickly but we are always accepting new patients.

What services do you provide?

ACHC has a lot going on in our little building! We offer fully integrated healthcare that includes full-time medical and dental services as well as part-time behavioral health services. This allows our providers to work together to treat the entire person, all in one building!

We also offer outreach and enrollment services to assist you in applying for medicaid, medicare, private insurance on the marketplace, as well as disability applications. We offer classes to our patients that including smoking cessation, managing diabetes, coping with chronic pain, and even yoga.

What are the prices for services?

Fees are determined by the type of services. ACHC intends on offering high-quality healthcare services at a lesser cost to our patients than the traditional market fees.

We are happy to offer payment plan options to make it easier for you to receive the treatment that you need.

How does the slide scale fee work?

For those uninsured or underinsured, we offer a Sliding Fee Scale based on family size and your ability to pay.*

Those without insurance who don’t qualify for our Sliding Scale fees can still benefit from our full range of services.

*Proof of income is required for those wanting to apply for a discount.

What if I have no income?

We offer a slide scale fee for discounted services here. The fee depends on household size and your ability to pay.

What do I do I if I can't prove my income

If you are unable to prove your income we will work with you to set up a payment plan. We can also work with you to complete a self-declaration form indicating that you have no income.

Are payment plans avaialble?

Yes, we are happy to offer payment plan options to make it easier for you to receive the treatment that you need!

Can I come there if I have insurance?

Absolutely! We accept most major insurances and would be glad to have you become a patient of ACHC.

Why do I have to be there so early for paperwork?

We understand the frustration with paperwork but it allows us to make sure we have all of our information correct.  This also allows our nursing staff to have time to get your medical history which allows us to provide you with more effective healthcare.

The good news is that most of our paperwork only has to be completed when you first join us as a patient, and then once a year to update. If you want to get started ahead of time, you can download and fill out your patient packet before you arrive for your first appointment.

What if my question isn't here?

Call us at 913.367.4879 and we will be happy to answer any of your questions.

What do I bring to my appointment?
